The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) College of Computer Studies in Batangas City celebrates its CCS Days from January 14-15. The activities theme is, “Programming the Minds of Individuals Through Technological Innovations“.
The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) – Batangas, formerly Lyceum of Batangas, an ISO 9001:2008 University was awarded the Autonomous status, the highest and most prestigious recognition given by the Commission on Higher Education(CHEd). LPU has four Level 3 accredited programs: Business Administration, Accountancy, Nursing and Liberal Arts. The university also have four Level 2 accredited programs: BS Marine Transportation, BS Marine Engineering, BS HRM, and BS Tourism.
Last night, the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas (LPU) family celebrated our University Christmas Party highlighted by the performances of the different divisions. Who would ever have thought of making our University President, Peter P. Laurel, dance with the tune of “So Sexy” together with the Vice Presidents. The President also won the Best Costume award with his Zeus, the Roman God of Lightning and Thunder, costume. It was really a festive and fun-filled evening. Ham was given as a gift for more than 400 early birds and three major prizes were raffled off.
LYCEUM OF THE PHILIPPINES UNIVERSITY
LAHING BATANGAN DANCE TROUPE, the official dance company of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (Batangas), marks more than a decade of advocacy to the authentic Philippine arts and culture. Founded in 1995, the group is a duly accredited proponent of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), duly recognized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and is enjoying a reputation as one of the premiere folk dance troupes in the country.
Starting as a fledgling university-based dance troupe, Lahing Batangan gradually soared to greater heights as the ultimate cultural ambassadors not only of the university but of the entire Batangas Province as well.
In 2002, the dance company broke grounds by being one of the featured artists for the Intramuros’ “Concert Night at the Old Walls” and participating in the 2002 Philippine Independence Day Grand Parade at the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta as part of the WOW Philippines contingent. That year propelled the group to its national reputation of what it is right now.
In January 2003, Lahing Batangan staged its first full-length concert at the “Concert at the Park” in Rizal Park, Luneta featuring Mindanao festival dances.
The Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas has gained another achievement when its Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe bagged the Best Cultural and Artistic Dance Troupe in the recently concluded 2009 Consumers Choice & Dangal ng Pilipinas Annual Awards. The awarding was held November 25, 2009 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theatre, Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City, Philippines. The award was received by LPU Batangas’ Culture and Arts Director, Eric Orolfo. The Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe has been a consistent winner. The group has been a consistent performer locally and internationally.
