Washington Day

President George Washington

Did you know that the real birthday of President George Washington is February 22?  Washington’s birthday is a United States federal holiday.  But, instead of having the holiday on the 22nd of February, which is his actual birthday,  it is celebrated every third Monday of February.  President’s Day is the official name in several states for this holiday since the middle of 1980′s.  Other states renamed this holiday as Washington and Lincoln Day since President Abraham Lincoln‘s birthday is on February 12.  Lincoln’s birthday however is not a US federal holiday.  The United States official web site acknowledges this day as Washington’s Birthday.
