What is Amazon Silk browser? Why Amazon named its new browser Silk? What is the difference of Amazon Silk from existing browsers? What is the technology behind Amazon Silk browser?

Amazon launched its latest web technology, the Amazon Silk browser, on September 28, 2011. The new web browser is reportedly powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon Silk browser will only be available on its latest released tablet, the Kindle Fire.

With the latest browser from Amazon, more questions came out rather than answers. A lot of browsers are already out and almost every month, a new version is being released. So one of the questions is that “Do we really need another one?”

According to Amazon, their Silk browser is not just like the typical browser that we already have. Amazon boasts of its powerful AWS infrastructure that helped solved the limitations the usual mobile browsers. Amazon Silk uses a split-architecture with browser subsystems contained on the Kindle Fire and the AWS cloud computing platform. The Amazon Silk goes beyond the limitations of the typical browser by utilizing the capabilities and interactivity of your mobile device and the immense computing power, memory, and network connectivity of the cloud.

Below is a YouTube video from Kindle that lets you learn more about the Amazon Silk browser, its features and advantages.
