iOS 5 Release Date: Updated iOS Available at iTunes October 12, 2011

Apple iOS 5 is expected to be available for update and download in iTunes today, October 12, 2011. iOS 5 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 3rd generation, iPod touch 4th generation, iPad and iPad 2, according to Apple official website. iTunes 10.5 update for Mac and Windows operating systems was released earlier today at Apple iTunes website.

The release of the new version of iTunes is in preparation for compatibility with the other Apple’s new product releases.

Starting with the iTunes update, it will be a busy week for Apple with the release of the feature packed iOS 5. Over a hundred million existing iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users is expected to update their devices starting tonight and the succeeding days.

Apple stores and other iPhone retailers are expecting massive sales of iPhone 4S which will be available starting Friday, October 14.

October 31, 2011, a Monday, was declared as a special non-working holiday by Malacanang through Proclamation No. 265 today, October 10, 2011. The early declaration of October 31 as a non-working holiday will enable everyone to plan the long weekend which will start from October 29.Philippines Holidays

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. signed Proclamation No. 265 that that gives “full opportunity to our people to properly observe [All Saints’ Day] with all its religious fervor which invariably requires them to travel to and from different regions of the country.”

All Saints’ Day, also a special non-working holiday, is observed on November 1 and falls on a Tuesday this year.

Steve Jobs, former Apple CEO and the man behind the development of Apple‘s iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the age of 56, according to an Apple statement as reported by CNN.

The Apple iconic figure, Jobs, succumbed to pancreatic cancer that he has been battling since 2004.

A special Apple home page was dedicated by the company for Jobs.

Apple‘s board of directors has issued an official statement on Jobs‘ death. According to the statement, the board “are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”

Typhoon Quiel, based on the latest PAGASA weather update as of 11 a.m. today, Sunday, October 2, 2011, is located at 290 km West of Baguio City and still over the West Philippine Sea. PAGASA said that Typhoon Quiel is continuously moving away from the country.

PAGASA weather bulletin indicates that Typhoon Quiel is moving west at 20 kph and has a maximum wind strength of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

Latest forecast by PAGASA said that Typhoon Quiel will be at 500 km West Northwest of Baguio City by Monday evening.

Public warning storm signal number 1 is still up in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Zambales, and Pangasinan. These areas will experience winds from 45-60 kph.

Low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals may experience flashfloods and landslides. Coastal areas may also experience big waves or storm surges due to Typhoon Quiel.

Typhoon Quiel is still enhancing the Southwest Monsoon that brings scattered to widespread rains in the Western section of Southern Luzon.

The amount of rainfall that may be brought by Typhoon Quiel is expected to be about 15 – 25 mm per hour within its 500 km diameter range.

The next PAGASA bulletin will be issued at 5 p.m. today.

Amazon launched its latest web technology, the Amazon Silk browser, on September 28, 2011. The new web browser is reportedly powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon Silk browser will only be available on its latest released tablet, the Kindle Fire.
