The University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad won the 2011 UAAP Cheerdance Competition at the Araneta Coliseum today, September 17, 2011.
UP‘s Madonna-inspired Pep Squad showed a better and almost flawless routine to retain the 2011 UAAP Samsung Cheerdance competition. The UP Pep Squad surprised everyone with all of its members having blonde hair.
The Araneta Coliseum was filled to the rafters with over 20,000 were in attendance on Saturday.
The UP Pep Squad took home their second straight cheerdance title and P340,000 top prize. De La Salle University (DLSU) Animo Squad entered the top three spot for the first time by placing as first runner up and received P200,000 prize. Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad placed third with P140,000 prize.
The University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe is in fourth place, Adamson University (AdU) Pep Squad in fifth and the National University (NU) Pep Squad in sixth place.

The reported Miss Universe 2011 comments of Oprah Winfrey turned out to be a hoax. Through Oprah Winfrey‘s official website, the reported comments were denied by the celebrity host camp.
After the announcement of the Miss Universe 2011 winners, a supposed statement of Oprah went viral over several social networking sites.
Below is the statement posted on the official website of Oprah Winfrey, denying that Oprah never made any comment about the results of the Miss Universe 2011.

Oprah Winfrey‘s reported comments on the recently concluded Miss Universe 2011 will surely put a black eye on this year’s result if this is really true.
Miss Universe 2011 crown was given to Miss Angola Leila Lopes.
However, the high profile celebrity, Winfrey, reportedly expressed her disappointment with the final results of the Miss Universe 2011. Twitter and Facebook posts say that she specifically pointed out how the contestants answered in the question and answer portion. Oprah expressed her favor on Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup over the rest of the Top 5 contestants.

I have a reservation with the result. If the only basis is the Q & A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Miss Philippines deserve to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to re-think of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Miss Philippines answered straight to the point.
