The Time Magazine cover photo of Jamie Lynne Grumet breastfeeding her three-year old boy went viral.

Grumet’s featured photo on the latest Time Magazine issue features a cover story about “attachment parenting.” The Time magazine cover photo for its May 2012 issue was taken by Martin Schoeller. Grumet is one of four breastfeeding mothers who were photographed by Schoeller.

Schoeller explained that “When you think of breast-feeding, you think of mothers holding their children, which was impossible with some of these older kids.” The photographer added that he “liked the idea of having the kids standing up to underline the point that this was an uncommon situation.”
