What is the Internet Speed in Hongkong?

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 | Travel with No Comments »

This is my first blog post since arriving in Hongkong.  Last night, I was not able to update everyone regarding my first day in Hongkong because.  I am really so tired with all the running and walking that the LPU group went through starting from our arrival at the Hongkong Airport, to the City University of Hongkong, then to Macao and back to Hongkong.  We were able to reached our hotel around 1:00 am of March 16.  It was a very tiring but enjoyable first day.

We stayed at the Dorsett Far East Hotel along Castle Peak Road in Kowloon.  I am with Engineer Ed Benavidez, LPU Maintenance And Development Office Director.  It was quite a good hotel, maybe a 3 star hotel?

I was able to post this article by accessing the internet of the hotel.  The internet usage at Dorsett Hotel is 30 HK$ per hour.  The hotel provided me with a UTP cable to access the internet inside the hotel room.

The idea here is to test the internet speed they have in the hotel and probably the estimated internet speed in Hongkong, some sort of benchmarking eh!? So, what is the internet speed in Hongkong (inside hotel)? .96 mbps-download speed, .47 mbps-upload speed. Quite good and stable internet connection.

That’s all for the meantime everyone.  Been dead tired again the whole 2nd Day, with the City Tour and Disneyland visit.  We will be checking out early tomorrow to proceed to Shenzen, China.  I will give you a detailed update on the different places and other personal experiences in Hongkong and Macao in the coming days.

Blogging At NAIA Using MIAAFreeWifiTL

We have just checked-in at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.While waiting for our flight, as usual, I decided to update this blog.  Our group is currently at the waiting lounge since the departure gate is still close.

We arrived at the airport around 4:15am.  The line entering the Terminal is already long, considering that it’s still very early.  We pass through a scanner when we enter the Terminal.  Upon entering NAIA T1, we lined up to pay Php 1,620 for our Travel Tax.  Then we lined up again, to get our ticket around 5:30am.  After getting our ticket, we paid our Terminal fee of Php 750.  I was able to skip the Immigration line because of  Leo Diomampo, a teller of the Terminal Fee office.  Leo is the father of my student at Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Batangas.  He assisted me in having my passport and immigration card marked.  I then proceeded to the usual frisking.  And here I am now, blogging at the lounge of the airport.

Herewith are our flight details based on the ticket:

  • Name of Airline:  Hongkong Express
  • Flight Number:  UO 714
  • From:  MANILA
  • Gate:  G01
  • Boarding Time:  0700
  • Flight Time:  0800
  • Seat Number: 19A
