To avoid any confusion when there is a weather disturbance, Philippine President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III has signed Executive Order 66 last January 9 that sets the guidelines on the suspension of classes.

President Aquino’s guidelines contained in the Department of Education Order 43 indicates that all classes in the following levels, both public and private, will be automatically suspended if the storm signal warning raised is:

Signal No. 1 – Pre-school level
Signal No. 2 – Pre-school, elementary and secondary levels
Signal No. 3 – Pre-school, elementary, secondary and tertiary levels

The DepEd order required that announcements of the cancellation or suspension of classes be made not later than 4:30 a.m. of the same day or not later than 11 a.m. for classes and work in the afternoon.
