Typhoon Quiel latest Satellite Image
Typhoon Quiel, based on the latest PAGASA weather update as of 11 a.m. today, Sunday, October 2, 2011, is located at 290 km West of Baguio City and still over the West Philippine Sea. PAGASA said that Typhoon Quiel is continuously moving away from the country.
PAGASA weather bulletin indicates that Typhoon Quiel is moving west at 20 kph and has a maximum wind strength of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
Latest forecast by PAGASA said that Typhoon Quiel will be at 500 km West Northwest of Baguio City by Monday evening.

Public warning storm signal number 1 is still up in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Zambales, and Pangasinan. These areas will experience winds from 45-60 kph.
Low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals may experience flashfloods and landslides. Coastal areas may also experience big waves or storm surges due to Typhoon Quiel.
Typhoon Quiel is still enhancing the Southwest Monsoon that brings scattered to widespread rains in the Western section of Southern Luzon.
The amount of rainfall that may be brought by Typhoon Quiel is expected to be about 15 – 25 mm per hour within its 500 km diameter range.
