Team USA was lifted by two Kevin’s, Durant and Love, past the gritty Slovenian team, 99-77 in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Durant scored 22 points on 8 of 13 field goal, while Love chipped in 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Americans beat Slovenia for their second straight win.
The other Americans who contributed to the win were Rudy Gay who scored 16 points. Russell Westbrook and Andre Iguodala added 11 points apiece.
Slovenia, who fell to 1-1 record, was led by Bostjan Nachbar who scored 13 points. It was a hostile crowd that is obviously dominated by Slovenian fans, as every missed shot by the Americans drew cheers from the crowd. It was a green sight as Slovenian fans dressed in green shirts.
Team USA connected on eight of their first 11 shots to lead at the end of the first quarter, 23-11. Slovenia, however, got to 28-23 as the Americans offense went cold for 61/2 minutes of the second quarter. But that was the least that Slovenia have come close to Team USA as they raced to 36-23 at the end of the quarter and never looked back.
Team USA next game will be against Brazil.
