Hostage taking at Quirino Grandstand is finally over | Manila | Philippines

Contrary to earlier reports, there are survivors in the hostage taking that took place at the Quirino Grandstand at the heart of Manila, Philippines.   A number of Chinese tourist from Hongkong were taken out of the Tourist bus, earlier taken by dismissed police officer Rolando Mendoza.  There were a total of 15 Chinese passengers of a Hong Thai Bus that were taken as hostages by the police officer as early as 8 in the morning today, August 23, 2010. The bus driver earlier claimed that all 15 Chinese passengers were killed by the hostage taker.

The Manila police was able to gun down the hostage taker after 12 hours.  It was like a movie scene, but, this will surely be nightmare for the hostages.  The image of the country will surely suffer with the way this hostage taking was handled by the authorities.  You can express your views about the hostage taking in Quirino Grandstand, by filling up the comments section below this article.

  1. ..I am very disappointed on our authorities. They are not fully equipped… and they really don’t know what to do .. I hope this will open the eyes of our government’ and to assure our PNP people which supposed to be the protectors must be properly equipped not only with armors but also with clever minds to perform an incident like this. One mistake can blame every Filipino people!
