Traditionally, Labor Day, is a non-working holiday.  But since May 1, 2010 falls on a Saturday, it will now be a regular working day.  The non-working day for that particular holiday will now be implemented on the nearest Monday which is May 3, 2010.  The transfer of the non-working holiday is based on Republic Act 9492 or the holiday economics of President Gloria Macapagal ArroyoRA 9492 seeks to make holidays, except those with religious significance, that falls on a regular working day be transferred to the nearest Monday.  President Arroyo issued RA 9492 to encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship towards a more productive environment, as well as to promote domestic tourism and enable employers to plan their work schedules effectively and efficiently.
