Maria Venus Raj, 2010 Binibining Pilipinas Universe, was stripped of her title. Raj was found to have submitted a controversial birth certificate. The controversy was discovered by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI).
“We found inconsistencies in their statements. Both Venus and her mother said she was born in Doha, Qatar, while yung na-submit nilang legal documents say she was born in the Philippines,” according to Ms. Jenny Inocencio Marcial, Corporate Affairs and PR Manager of BPCI.
“We don’t want din naman to give her family the pain of being in a situation like this. I’m sure Venus has nothing to do with this and we will find a way to deal with this problem,” Marcial added.
MARIA VENUS BAYONITO RAJ won the right to represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2010 pageant. Raj won the title of Miss Philippines-Universe during the March 6, Grand Coronation Night of the 2010 Binibining Pilipinas held at the Araneta Coliseum.
