John Paul Garcia, an Ilocano, may end up as a new Guinness record holder for digging up the biggest and heaviest singkamas (jicama) in the world. Leo Sutisna of Indonesia currently holds the current world record, as recorded in the Guinness World Records, for a jicama that weighs 21 kilograms.
Garcia dug up the singkamas that weighs about 23 kilos and is the size of a huge pot. A normal singkamas is just as big as an ordinary potato.
The Ilocos native said that he has no plans of selling the singkamas. He consider his harvest priceless and believes that the giant singkamas will bring him good luck.
