Three Filipino boxing warriors prevailed over their Latino counterparts in the recently concluded Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13 at the Las Vegas Hilton.   Nonito “the Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. had an easy 3rd round knockout win against Mexican Manuel “Chango” Vargas. Donaire retained his WBA interim super flyweight belt and improved his record to 23-1 (15 KOs).

Mark Jason “MJM Grand” Melligen also prevailed over American Raymond Gatica via technical knockout in the 6th Round.  Melligen improved his record to 17-2 (13 KOs). In the last “Pinoy Power 2” last August, Melligen also won with a 4th round TKO over Ernesto Zepeda.

Bernabe “The Real Deal” Concepcion won by a 10-round unanimous decision over Puerto Rican Mario “Principe Ponce” Santiago.  The bout was scored as 98-91, 96-93, 97-92.  Concepcion was able to knocked down the Puerto Rican in the 6th Round.  The Filipino improved his record at 28-3-1 (15 KOs).

Unfortunately, Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales and Gerry “Fearless” Peñalosa were humbled by their Latino opponents.  Morales was knocked out in the 1st round by Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel of Mexico.  It was a dissapointing loss by Peñalosa, as he lost by split decision to Puerto Rican Eric “Little Hands Of Steel” Morel.  The judges scored the bout, 115 – 113 and 116-112 both in favor of Morel, and 115-113 in favor of Peñalosa.
