Video sex scandal has again put the Philippines in a bad light in 2009. With the involvement of a lot of showbiz personalities and well known professionals, it is like repeating the history of the betamax scandals in the 80′s. This time, it got worst because of technological advancement such as mobile phones with video recorder, and the internet. As usual, pinays ended up as the victim and carries the burden of being humiliated.
Before the fight of Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton, there were already talks circulating of a possible romance between the People’s Champ and sexy Krista Ranillo. After Pacquiao knocked out Hatton, the issue between Pacquiao and Ranillo heated up. A video showing Pacquiao in a car together with a perceived Ranillo was posted in YouTube. Several other pictures of Pacquiao and Ranillo together were circulated over the internet. Pacquiao’s wife Jinky was even caught on video crying in a mass, confirming the marital problems of the Filipino boxing hero.
Consider as the most celebrated topic of the year is the video scandal of Doctor Hayden Kho and sexy siren Katrina Halili. The first to surface was the “Careless Whisper” video wherein Kho and Halili dance to the tune of Careless Whisper. The second is a 24 minutes video which shows the actual bedroom sex scene of the embattled doctor and the sexy siren. Another controversial 19 minutes video is the living room sex scene between Kho and actress Maricar Reyes. There was also a separate video of a bedroom scene of Kho and Reyes. A Brazilian model was also caught on video with Kho. Well known beauty specialist, Dr. Vicky Belo was also involved in a sex video with Kho. Several other videos have come out and quickly distributed through the internet and pirated dvd. The Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili controversy even reached the senate investigative body and the Department of Justice. As a result, Hayden Kho was charged before a Pasig court for violating Republic Act (RA) 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act and was stripped of his medical license.
